OATMEAL COOKIES

BONUS:  Another guest recipe!!
Last night about 10:00pm my son and my son-in-law decided to make oatmeal cookies----with raisins!  There was much discussion in the family concerning whether or not to add raisins or leave them out, but ultimately the gentlemen cooks prevailed and the raisins went in.  I thought they did a great job, so here is their recipe.   I especially loved the fact that they used their creativity to develop a recipe that suited their own personal tastes.  The cookies were both beautiful and delicious.  Thanks guys!    Enjoy!!

Ingredients:
1 and ½ cups Crisco
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
½ cup water
2 t. vanilla
2 cups flour
2 t. salt
2 t. cinnamon
1 t. baking soda
6 cups oats (quick cooking)
2 cups raisins

Instructions:
*Combine flour, salt, soda and cinnamon and set aside
*Cream Crisco and sugars.
*Mix in eggs, water and vanilla .
*Stir in flour mixture
*Stir in oats and raisins.
*Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.
*Bake at 350 degrees for 12 -15 minutes or until golden brown.

Note:
*You can also add 1 cup of chopped pecans or omit the cinnamon if you wish.

  2. My husband and I love oatmeal raisin cookies for breakfast, and I'd never omit the cinnamon!!

(btw does he bake for an army? This recipe must make 5 or 6 dozen BIG cookies!)

  3. This recipe makes about 3 dozen cookies. Unfortunately there is a mistake in the amount given for the oatmeal.
It should be 3 cups of oatmeal---not 6!! Sorry about that!
