I made some
Nanaimo Bars this weekend. They are well
known here in Canada as they are named after the city of Nanaimo, British
Columbia. I hope you will try these
yummy treats for your crew this holiday weekend. Enjoy!
Ingredients: I doubled the ingredients and used a 9 X 13
pyrex dish---but following are the amounts and instructions for a 9 inch square
dish.
Ingredients: Base
1 cup graham
cracker crumbs
½ cup flaked
coconut
1/3 cup
finely chopped walnuts
¼ cup cocoa
powder
¼ cup sugar
1/3 cup
melted butter
1 egg
**Stir
together all ingredients and press into
prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees until
firm---10-12 minutes.
Ingredients: Filling
¼ cup
softened butter
2 T. custard
powder
2 t. vanilla
2 cups
powdered sugar
3 T. milk
**Beat
together butter, custard powder and vanilla.
Add powdered sugar alternately with milk until smooth and add more milk
if needed. Spread over cooled base and
refrigerate until firm.
Ingredients: Topping
4 ounces
semi-sweet chocolate
1 T. butter
**Melt
chocolate and butter. Spread over
filling, refrigerate until set.
